Back to Research

After all the interesting discussions from last week, I spent most of this week looking through that feedback, making a list of what I have to look at again and started researching those areas. The one main thing that stuck with me after last week, was that question of how to re-use plastic in a way that does not harm the environment. I don’t want to create a product that promotes sustainability under false pretence and in reality, it makes the whole environmental situation even worse. That is why this week’s research focused on the chemical makeup of plastic and its properties. I hoped that through a more scientific approach, it would give me a better indication of a non-harmful manufacturing process. However, it ended up having the complete opposite effect. I was very overwhelmed by all this information and I did not quite know how to process it.
Since I do not want to make that same mistake again, my approach for next week it to focus on the manufacturing processes. I want to get a better understanding of the general processes used in the plastic industry, but also look into other products and try to figure out whether plastic could be used for those processes as well.
